Voluntary Benefit policies only pay out benefits to covered members if the insured initiates a manual submission for reimbursement. Today the insurer of these policies has no way of knowing that a covered event has taken place unless manually notified by the insured. Due to this systemic data inefficiency, millions of dollars of employee benefits simply get missed or go unpaid.
